The ongoing conflict involving Iran has triggered a global fuel crisis, especially in Asia, leading to shortages of LPG for cooking and disruptions in petrol /diesel supplies. The situation exposes the world’s long-standing dependence on fossil fuels.
For decades, nations assumed oil reserves would continue supplying energy without interruption. This complacency prevented serious investment in renewable sources such as solar, wind, and geothermal energy. India has most of these resources in abundance. Now, supply disruptions are choking economies while fossil fuel use continues to worsen pollution and global warming.
Nations like India and the global scientific community must urgently accelerate research and adoption of renewable energy. The present crisis is a stark reminder that the world can no longer rely endlessly on fossil fuels.
