All About Women Celebrating Women’s Day: A Day to Celebrate the Stories of Rebellion

Sudipta Mishra, Puri, 15 March 2023

On International Women’s Day, each year, I bow my head in front of the entire female fraternity of this universe. Everyone is special. It’s a day to celebrate the stories of rebellion that we have raged to survive in this patriarchal society. A woman is always deemed as the vulnerable section of society. The current pandemic is the brightest instance of this. Domestic violence and child marriage and abduction of girl children are multiplied by criminals in the mask of normal men. The victims of domestic violence were selected to seal their lips during Covid times. Hence, it’s proved that women are an easy target for any type of crime. Acid attacks, gang rapes, and kidnappings are commonly found in every society nowadays. Hence, a woman cannot be liberated unless the mindset of our people does not alter towards her. So education is the only path to bridge the gap between poverty and enlightenment. A balanced society is always dependent on a nourished family. A family is dependent on a woman. So women can be the game changers through wisdom. Through knowledge, they can change their perspective of the world and simultaneously they can be aware of their rights to curb the intensity of violence against them. Women’s Day enables us all to unravel the resilience and power of our minds to explore womanhood in a true sense.
