On 14th June, Sarat Kar & Anima Kar Foundation and its partner organisation, the internationally reputed Solidaridad, went one step ahead in their “Smart Agriculture District” project with the inauguration of a Centre of Excellence for Agriculture at Bantala village in Mahanga Block of Cuttack District. Hundreds of farmers, their family members, and other citizens attended the event. The Centre was inaugurated jointly by Dr. Shatadru Chattopadhyay, Managing Director, Solidaridad Asia, Dr. Jagadananda Das, Retd. Director of DRDO, Government of India, Shri Ashok Kumar Dash, Retd. Registrar of Ravenshaw University, and Shri Sobhan Kar, Chairman & Managing Trustee of Sarat Kar & Anima Kar Foundation.
The two organisations had signed a Memorandum of Understanding in September 2022 at Bhubaneswar to create “Smart Agriculture Districts” across the State by working closely with farmers to enhance their productivity and income, to make them adept at practising sustainable agriculture, to familiarise them with new technology, etc. Currently, the Project is being implemented on a pilot basis in Mahanga Block of Cuttack District and Derabish Block of Kendrapara District.
