Miss Deekshya Mohapatra of class 7 of Loyola school, Bhubaneswar participated in the finals of the Junior Miss India competition and won the title, “Best Personality” in the 13-14 age category. The event was held at Jaipur, Rajasthan during 6th to 8th of this month. Her win has brought laurels to the State and happiness to her school, family, friends, and wellwishers.

Deekshya exuded poise and style in all the rounds of the competition and spoke with confidence when asked questions by the judges. She wore a traditional “Pasapalli” designed dress with a “Patachitra” painted on it in the cultural round, showcasing Odisha’s rich traditions of art, weaving and culture. She mentioned that the dress had been created from a saree of her grandmother, the eminent writer, Dr. Manorama Biswal Mohapatra.

When the judges announced her name as the winner of the “Best Personality”, there was a loud cheer in the hall and her proud parents were beaming with joy.
A total of 180 girls participated in the event in various age groups and came from different parts of the country. Deekshya and the other five participants from Odisha had qualified for the final rounds after winning the State competition held three months ago at Bhubaneswar. Deekshya’s success has been recognised and celebrated by her school.
