I have lived my life throughout the country and abroad. Naturally, my remembrance is larger. Now also, I live locally and think globally.
I feel good when a deserving young author especially a deserving one like Dwijendra Kumar gets applause. But I get angry when a cunning youth pockets an award meant for seniors.
My interest is unlimited. It includes Fashion Communication too. Every student should be concerned about what to do after taking their 12th grade exams. They don’t know much about different employment options, though. As a result, their selections are dominated by predetermined inclinations for engineering and medical courses. Those with strong math and physics skills choose engineering programs, whereas biology majors are more likely to pursue careers in medicine or biology. They have no idea that these two fields, which for many years were the top choices for millions of 12th grade passouts, are now almost fully occupied. Individuals with degrees in management, information technology, public relations, and advertising, as well as holders of diplomas and degrees from numerous other professional courses, are frequently in a better position to get employment. Among these professional training programs is the course in Fashion Designing.
Along with food and a place to live, clothing is one of the three basic necessities for human survival. India holds a significant position in the production of clothing for both the large home market and international exports. An estimate places the value of India’s apparel and textile sector at $170 billion USD, or 7% of the country’s overall industrial output and 14% of its export revenue. Therefore, it makes sense that India has a sizable apparel and textile industry with lakhs of manufacturing facilities in addition to boutiques, buying houses, retail showrooms where clients may purchase clothing directly, etc. To assist them in continuing to innovate with designs and styles and to work on particular designs and styles that fashion buying houses or individual buyers have to offer, requires skilled fashion professionals.
Aptly titled A Career Guide to Fashion Designing, a recent publication provides much-needed information regarding the duties and responsibilities of a fashion designer. The book, which has been published by Advik Publications Pvt Ltd, Delhi, also provides insightful information about associated occupations, employers, course materials, training facilities, etc.
An eminent editor who has worked with me in NBT, author of this book, Dwijendra Kumar has extensive experience producing books in addition to writing news, features, and articles about fashion. He has once worked with the Press Trust of India, the country’s top news agency, at its New Delhi headquarters in the past.
Youngsters interested in pursuing a career in fashion should read this and similar other books. That would give them much needed information about the fashion industry and help them choose a career in the fashion industry.
